Welcome to Charlotte BMX: Charlotte BMX is a volunteer organization
that was founded over 15 years ago by Pete and Maria Taylor of Taylor Contractors of Florida. We have riders of all ages and
skill levels. Beginners get to practice and train with national and world class riders. We encourage you to visit our facility.

Hours
State Season Hours (Jan. 1-May 31) Monday - practice from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday - practice
at 6 p.m. and race at 7:30 p.m. (single race, points only) Sunday - practice at 2 p.m. and race at 4 p.m.
(double races) *State season points begin Nov. 1st but due to the holidays, we will not start our state season
hours until January 1st.
Summer Hours: (June 1-Dec. 31) Wednesday
- practice at 6 p.m and ribbon race at 7:30pm Sunday - practice at 4 p.m. and race at 6 p.m. (single race, trophy
race)

The track will be closed for racing and practicing for the next couple of weeks.
This is due to track damage. Julio and Michele have been out of town since 7/3 and will return on 7/20. Ceaser
will have work parties on Sat. 7/19 and Sun. 7/20. We will have another work party on Saturday 7/26. As soon as
we get the track back up and running we will open. We will definately be open for Summer Series in August but hopefully

CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS TO HOST 2009 SUNSHINE
STATE BMX SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (July XX, 2008)
- The Sunshine State BMX Association has selected Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands as the location for one of four
qualifiers for the 2009 State Series Championship. Sanctioned by the National Bicycle League, three days of competitive riding
at the Charlotte BMX Track over the weekend of February 27 – March 1, 2009, is expected to attract between 2,500 and
3,000 athletes and their families. "Charlotte BMX is accustomed to hosting championship races, such as the Summer
Series Qualifier in October 2007 and a State Championship Qualifier in 2006," said Michele Martinez, Treasurer of Charlotte
BMX, "We’re already looking at bringing other races to the area. The track quality, variety of accommodations and
area activities continue to make Charlotte Harbor an attractive destination for these types of events." BMX bicycle
riding has been growing in popularity over the years and will be introduced to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Two
Southwest Florida riders who have practiced and competed at Charlotte BMX have their eyes on the Olympic gold. They are Largo,
Fla. resident Amanda Geving, a 2008 Olympic hopeful and Sarasota, Fla. resident Mike Kapes, 2012 Olympic hopeful and Pro National
#1. Notable Punta Gorda riders who have competed at Charlotte BMX are Amanda Carr, ranked World #1 and soon to be Pro Cory
Watts. "We’re looking forward to the high level of energy the Sunshine State BMX Association will be bringing
into the community with this championship race," said Becky Bovell, Director for the Charlotte Harbor Visitor’s
Bureau. "With anticipated attendance close to 3,000 people, the race will have a significant impact on local businesses." All
events for the championship qualifier will be held at Charlotte BMX at 2505 Carmalita Street, Punta Gorda, Fla. Updated event

. Call for Sponsors and Volunteers The qualifier event will rely on the efforts of sponsors and
volunteers. Various volunteering opportunities are available for those interested in lending their time and talents. Everyone
from medical and security personnel to parking lot attendants and concessionaire workers are needed. Interested volunteers
